Only the parts you actually need
ModelWizard opens STEP, IFC and Navisworks files in your browser. You tick what you need and export only that — so SolidWorks doesn't have to load an entire plant just to fit in one machine.
Log inWhat it does
A supplier sends a model of their complete installation. You need one frame out of it. ModelWizard sits in between.
Step 1Open
Drag the file onto the page. You see the model in 3D, with the assembly tree beside it and the dimensions and size of every part.
Step 2Select
Tick what has to come along. Search by name, a whole branch at once, or leave out everything smaller than a size you set yourself.
Step 3Export
You get a new file with only those parts. With STEP the geometry is untouched: things are left out, not recalculated.
Your files stay on your own computer
ModelWizard is a web page, but not a web service. The page is loaded once and then runs entirely in your own browser. No model is ever sent to the server — not when opening, not when exporting, not afterwards. There is nothing to upload and nothing that stays behind anywhere.
That is not a promise on paper: the page does not even fetch fonts or libraries from third parties. Once you are logged in, your browser talks to no one.
Which files
| Format | Extensions | What you get out of it |
|---|---|---|
| STEP | .step .stp | The assembly structure and the exact surfaces. A partial export leaves the geometry exactly as it was. |
| IFC | .ifc | IFC2x3 and IFC4. Every building element becomes a part of its own in a STEP assembly. |
| Navisworks | .nwd .nwc | Including the colours from the model. You pick the unit per file, and that choice is remembered. |
What you get back
STEP is the export that serves you best in SolidWorks: surfaces and assembly structure are kept, so you can carry on working with it.
STL is available too, for when you only need the shape to build something around it. On export the tool says which of the two is the sensible choice for that file.
You can fix the origin and the axis direction yourself, so a model ends up exactly where it belongs.
Access
ModelWizard works with an account per user. You log in, the tool loads, and that is the end of it — nothing to install and no administrator needed.
